What to see from east to west
Tsavo East is home to hundreds of awesome Tsavo lions, known for their legendary ferocity during the colonial era 鈥� just ask your guide. You鈥檒l find great watering holes throughout the park, like the Galana River and Mudanda Rock where the thirsty wildlife gather at the life-giving waters.

Spotting rhinos on safari is always a special moment and we鈥檒l visit the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary at Tsavo West, home to over 80 of these endangered and gentle animals. We鈥檒l also take a foot safari along the lush shores of Mzima Springs, home to exotic fish, hippos, and crocodiles.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Diani Beach to Tsavo East National Park Approx. 3 Hour Drive

  Meals: Lunch & Dinner
  
  7:00 am 鈥� You鈥檙e on safari so it鈥檚 an early rise as your Africa Kenya Safaris driver/guide comes by to pick you up in a private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep. Hop in and we鈥檒l start our adventure headed for Mombasa by the Likoni Ferry.
  
  Then we鈥檙e onto the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway, known as the 鈥淓xplorers鈥� Route鈥�, as the sun breaks over the passing fields.
  
  In just a few hours we鈥檒l arrive at Tsavo East, its broad expanse and big open sky welcoming us.
  
  We鈥檒l visit various watering holes like Mudanda Rock and the Aruba Dam, where the wildlife gather to quench their thirst.
  
  There will be plenty of time for animal viewing as well as lunch amidst this expansive natural setting.
  
  In the afternoon we鈥檒l set out for more game spotting, and you鈥檒l find yourself getting into the rhythms of the safari life.
  
  Late afternoon will bring on a glowing African sunset as we head to your safari lodge or tented camp for dinner and relaxation.

• Day 2 : Tsavo East 鈥� Tsavo West

  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
  
  We鈥檒l be up before dawn ready to enjoy the sunrise as the park comes alive with wildlife like waterbuck, gerenuk, buffalo, and of course, elephant.
  
  Breakfast follows and then another game drive as you scout the savannah for more of the park鈥檚 wild inhabitants.
  
  It鈥檚 a short drive to the rolling green hills of Tsavo West in contrast to the rugged terrain from where we鈥檝e come. This park holds all the big wildlife including rhinos.
  
  We鈥檒l visit the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary where these shy nocturnal creatures dwell. The rhino is an endangered species, but this haven protects and nurtures them in the hopes of increasing their numbers.
  
  We鈥檒l spend our second safari evening at our Tsavo West accommodation.

• Day 3 : Tsavo West - Diani Beach Approx. 6 Hour Drive

  Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
  
  It鈥檚 our final safari day so let鈥檚 rise early to pack in as much wildlife viewing as we can. We鈥檒l see the sun break over the park and one of its unexpected surprises: a lush palm-shaded oasis called Mzima Springs.
  
  We鈥檝e spent much of our safari in our 4 x 4 Jeep 鈥� here we鈥檒l have the opportunity to climb out and explore by foot. We can walk along the shores of the spring, looking for unique migratory birds and exotic fish.
  
  We鈥檒l come upon crocodiles here and hippos as well, thriving in the millions of gallons of freshwater that feeds the spring. This is another kind of safari 鈥� peaceful and filled with nature鈥檚 colors.
  
  We鈥檒l enjoy lunch amidst these natural surroundings and dwell on all that we have experienced. After lunch, we鈥檒l hop into our 4 x 4 Jeep once more for a final game drive as we exit the park, heading back to the coast.
  
  We should have you back at your Diani Beach or other resort in the late afternoon.
